ABOUT
׳TAKE CARE׳ is an AFI thesis film that tells the story of Gabriel, a 19 years old Mexican-American valet parking attendant who works at a high-end restaurant in Los Angeles. When Gabriel finds out that his undocumented mother, Inez, needs medical care he tries to help her in any possible way. Will Gabriel push the boundaries too far in order to prove to his mother, and to himself, that he can already take care of her?
This coming-of-age story is set in a complex social and political reality which deals with some of the most important and relevant elements of our time; immigration, class differences and the US health system. These crucial topics that shape the American society, such as the global one as a whole, are brought to life through an intimate relationship between a son and his mother, which together and apart confront the challenges of today's world.
